She said "slow down, you're moving way too fast for me Just cool out and let me catch my breath, you see it's crazy It ain't that I'm not feeling this but I just left a relationship and I don't wanna get hurt again" I said "baby, I ain't trying to rush you cuz this feeling is more than just a crush Let's take it easy… We'll take it nice and slow Let's take a moment and I hope we'll get to know each other better, cuz In a world full of anger and hate you're the one that has given me faith That despite all the problems I see, the world is a beautiful place Take a moment and make up your mind, cuz it's only a matter of time See to me we are destined to be, can't you see it'll be so sublime? However you want it, However you need it, whenever you're ready girl I am going to love you just the best way that I can And even if it takes my whole life I'm gonna find a way to be your man Yes I am going to love you just the best way that I can (the best I can, the best I can) So just take all the time that you need I can see how the hurt and the pain that you feel got you twisted and tied But remember that love can renew and restore and replace all the bitter resentment you feeling inside (with something deeper baby) Cuz in a world full of anger and hate you're the one that has given me faith That despite all the problems I see, the world is a beautiful place Take a moment and make up your mind, but it's only a matter of time See to me we are destined to be, can't you see it'll be so sublime? However you want it, however you need it, whenever you're ready darling I’m going to love you just the best way that I can And even if it takes my whole life, I'm gonna find a way to be your man Yes, I am going to love you just the best way that I can (The best I can, yeah the best I can) Baby I’m going to love you, baby I’m going to need you I promise that I'm thinking of you darling, I promise I'll never leave you I promise that I'll be faithful and I promise I'll be true And that's the kind of promise that ain’t hard to keep because I really wanna be with you However you want it.

Love, never gave a second glance, always taken it for granted Wherever I go I fall in Love, you're the only one for me, never thought I'd fall so deep Wherever I go I fall in Love All the happiness you bring, you are my one my everything Wherever I go I fall in love Love, wherever I go I walk with you, you're at the heart of whatl I do And when we're apart I find that sooner or later I am anticipating her Love, it's a game for fools to play, well you can fool me any day Wherever I go I fall in Love, you're the one that fills me through, gives me strength to wake anew Wherever I go I fall in love Love, wherever I go I walk with you, you're at the heart of what I do I promise you I am here to stay Love, wherever I go you're by my side, deep in my heart, my joy and pride And when we're apart I find that sooner or later I am anticipating her Love, every second every day Every moment, every way It's just one thing I can say Wherever I go I fall in love

All We Are 04:01
Tell me did you feel it, something in the atmosphere Something come between us, something to remind us Maybe to protect us, hopefully prevent us From making the mistake that we'd both like to make City is the backdrop, sitting at the backstop Tender is the moment, wiping off her teardrops I'm just hoping we stop, maybe take a moment Think over this thing that we'd both like to do But all we are is all we are And all we need is some momentary grace We should think it over before we make a big mistake Tell me, did you feel a change in the equation? This is adding up to an awkward situation Permanently stranded I can't understand what I'm thinking But I can't stop thinking of you I can see you staring, brimming with impatience Thinking bout the things that give me palpitations But let's enjoy the silence, watch the morning rise up Let the light remind us where we need to be If all we had was each other then we would both be fine But you belong to another and I belong to mine Can't you see the flowers swaying in the distance? Hear the angels singing songs of sweet resistance? We should just dismiss this momentary lapse And go back to living life the way it should be But all we are is all we are And all we need is some momentary grace We should think it over before we make a big mistake

Stillness of your bright moonlit eyes shining through, so happy I found you Cuz I am yours and you are my love so true, so happy I found you I'm so happy that I have finally found you Yes I'm so lucky that I can call you mine Gathered in this life, you and I, one from two, so happy I found you And we will find peace of mind rising new, so happy I found you I'm so happy that I have finally found you Yes I'm so lucky that I can call you mine… Until the day that I die Until the day that I die you know that I will always love you Until the day that I die you know that I will always be there Wonder who am I to find my love so true, so happy I found you And thank the lord that you are mine in all that I do, so happy I found you Until the day that I die You know that I will always love you Until the day that I die you know that I will always care Until the day that I die you know that will be thinking of you Until the day that I die you know that I will always be there

Sea Change 06:19
Sea change is gonna come some day, I know it's gonna come my way Oh it may not be easy and the road may be long But a sea change is coming and I hope you'll come along As I was walking home one day I heard a little voice inside And it spoke to me clearly said it's time to move along Told me you must prepare yourself, for a change is coming on You've got to look into your life, burn through all the bitterness and dismay There's a world waiting for you you can fight it and delay But the truth is unavoidable, getting closer every day Sea change is gonna come some day, I know it's gonna come my way Oh it may not be easy and the road may be long But a sea change is coming, I hope you'll come along And so I've laid down into my mind, finding what to keep and throw away And it feels like a mountain with a summit I can't find But I'll focus on what's in front of me, take a step and start to climb For I've been a scoundrel, been a scourge and a plague Feels like I've let down everyone who has ever depended on me But I can be a different man than the one I used to be Let a sea change come washing down on me And so I've found a new lease on my life, and out of the struggle will I rise No more smoking and drinking, sleeping half my life away Gonna treat life like a miracle, gonna savor every day For a sea change will be coming on some day, I know it's coming down over me, When it seems to be impossible, just look up you'll find your way, For a sea change will be coming down, let it wash down on me Let it wash down over me

about

In a brave new world where we consume and dispose of music at such a rapid rate, versatility is crucial for musicians of the 21 st century. This is a path that Mattie Safer knows very well. A Washington, DC-reared, jazz school dropout who came into his own in New York City as bassist of indie dance band The Rapture, Mattie Safer is a singer, songwriter and producer with a unique r&b/soul sensibility.

During his time with The Rapture, Safer had the opportunity to tour the world with Daft Punk and work with esteemed music producers, including Timbaland, Danger Mouse and influential British producer, Paul Epworth. This choice meeting with Epworth would eventually lead to a solo deal in 2011 with Wolf Tone Records after his departure from the band in 2009, unveiling a more refined musical style from Safer.

Influenced musically by soul greats of the past and present including the likes of The Impressions, The Soul Stirrers, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, and D'Angelo, Safer makes soul music. Classic American songwriting refracted through a Hip Hop sensibility; an Impressions record produced by J Dilla. Although his deal with Wolf Tone did not stand the test of time, Safer credits Epworth with encouraging him to find his sound and make timeless music that he loves and is proud of.

In the summer of 2015 Safer took a leap of faith, moving cross-country to Los Angeles to embark upon a new chapter of his life as an independent artist. His time at Wolf Tone created the framework for his solo debut, All We Are, released independently in May of 2016. The 5-song EP features honest songwriting “about love and spiritual growth” pairing velvety vocals with stripped-down R&B production, offering a breath of fresh air in a predominantly electronic soundscape.

Says Safer of the project, “This is a record about growing and growing up, me looking in the mirror and encouraging myself to keep going. If any of that speaks to others people’s experiences then I've done good work. If I can share through music and help other people, that's wonderful.”

Debut single “Whenever You're Ready” is a proper introduction to Safer’s
musicality. Recorded in the London studio of Paul Epworth featuring production reminiscent of the late Marvin Gaye, “Whenever You’re Ready” is a song about devotion, unraveling the vulnerability of a man who would go to lengths to love a woman who’s been hurt, and is scared to love. Conversely “Sea Change” is quite mellow production-wise, and looks inward, delving into the depths of darkness and pain to find light and hope in days to come."

Safer is bi-coastal and continues to write, record, and perform live shows in New York and Los Angeles.
